Leah Boggs

Boggs brings professional experience and strong leadership behind the plate. At Virginia, she was a four-year letter winner who played in 182 career games and finished with a .271 batting average, seven home runs and 55 RBIs. She was a two-time NFCA First Team All-Region selection and helped Virginia reach the NCAA Regional Final in Knoxville in 2024. That senior season, she appeared in 49 games, hit .286, stole 10 bases in 11 attempts and handled major responsibility as a catcher. She also began coaching shortly after graduation, joining Boston College’s softball staff as an assistant coach, working with catchers and player development. Broadcast note: Boggs is a catcher with the rare combination of pro experience, defensive leadership, academic success and coaching perspective.

Henley is a left-handed pitcher who gives the Diamonds a different look in the circle. In her fifth-year season at Virginia in 2025, she appeared in 28 games with eight starts and posted an 8-3 record, one save, a 3.32 ERA and 78 strikeouts over 78 innings. She held opponents to a .257 batting average and was part of five combined shutouts. Her early 2025 season included wins in high-profile matchups, including relief outings against No. 23 Kentucky and No. 4 UCLA, plus an eight-inning, nine-strikeout effort against No. 5 Texas A&M. Broadcast note: Henley offers left-handed contrast and has experience against top-five national opponents.

Pilon brings Power Five experience from both LSU and Baylor and has been a steady everyday infielder. At Baylor in 2024, she started all 59 games and recorded 40 hits, five doubles, one home run and 20 RBIs while playing second base and shortstop. In 2023, she was one of only two Baylor players to start all 58 games, added 40 hits and 22 RBIs, stole 15 bases and helped the Bears turn a program-record 31 double plays. Coming out of high school, she was a PGF All-American, a two-time Cal-Hi All-American and played on national championship club teams with Athletics-Mercado. Laurin Krings

Krings was a cornerstone pitcher at Missouri and one of the most durable arms in the SEC. Her honors include 2024 NFCA Southeast All-Region Third Team, 2024 SEC All-Tournament Team, 2024 SEC All-Defensive Team at pitcher, multiple SEC Academic Honor Roll selections, and Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week plus SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week after a 2023 no-hitter against North Texas. In 2024, D1Softball listed her with a 16-10 record, 2.38 ERA and 147 strikeouts. She finished her Missouri career ranked in the program top 10 in appearances, innings pitched, strikeouts and wins, including 57 career victories and 599 strikeouts. Lucas Thornhill is one of Wichita State’s top offensive players of the modern era. Her honors include 2023 Softball America Third Team All-American, three NFCA All-Central Region Third Team selections, multiple First Team All-Conference honors, CSC Academic All-District recognition and 2025 American Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In 2023, she hit .384 and drove in 62 runs, the second-most RBIs in a single season in Wichita State history. In 2025, D1Softball listed her at .372 with 13 home runs, 41 RBIs, 49 runs and 61 hits. She also earned American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors multiple times, including a 2025 opening week in which she slashed .600/1.200/.632 over five games. Skaggs is a power-hitting second baseman and one of the most accomplished players on the Diamonds roster. At Arizona, she started 188 of 201 games, hit .328 for her career and totaled 57 home runs, 181 RBIs, 177 hits, 20 doubles, two triples and a .973 fielding percentage. Her 57 home runs rank 13th in Arizona history, and she hit seven career grand slams. She was a 2022 Second Team NFCA All-American, a three-time NFCA All-West Region selection, a D1Softball All-American in both 2023 and 2024, a three-time All-Pac-12 pick, and the 2023 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. In 2023, she won the Rawlings Gold Glove after committing zero errors in 168 chances at second base. Broadcast note: Skaggs combines elite power numbers with Gold Glove defense at second base.

Hope Trautwein-Valdespino is one of the most accomplished pitchers in the sport. At North Texas, she became the first NCAA Division I softball pitcher to throw a seven-inning perfect game with all 21 outs recorded by strikeout. She left North Texas as the program’s career leader in ERA (2.05), wins (61), saves (15), opponent batting average (.197) and strikeouts per seven innings (8.11), while ranking second in career strikeouts with 693. She then transferred to Oklahoma for the 2022 season, helping the Sooners win the national championship while posting a 0.77 ERA and striking out 157 batters. Her full college résumé includes an 82-25 record, 1.82 ERA and 850 strikeouts. Broadcast note: few pitchers anywhere have a more famous single-game accomplishment than the 21-strikeout perfect game.

Blampied was a tough, productive and dependable player at South Carolina, where she became the 11th player in program history to reach both 100 career RBIs and 100 career runs scored. In 2024, she was the only Gamecock to start all 60 games, all in center field, and led the team with 56 hits, 38 runs, 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs and a .464 slugging percentage. She also drove in 33 runs, walked 22 times and stole six bases. Academically, she was a two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree, SEC Spring Honor Roll selection and NFCA All-Scholar. Hastings is one of the most decorated players in UConn softball history. She was a four-time All-Big East selection and the 2024 Big East Player of the Year. She finished her career as UConn’s all-time leader in both runs scored and stolen bases, giving the Diamonds a true speed-and-pressure threat at the top or bottom of the lineup. In 2025, she helped lead UConn to a Big East championship and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 24 years. Owen gives Kansas City a veteran, middle-of-the-order bat with the ability to catch, play the infield and handle the designated player role. She finished her college career at North Carolina after productive stops at Gardner-Webb and Marshall. In her 2024 season with the Tar Heels, Owen started all 43 games she played and ranked second on the team with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs, while posting a .622 slugging percentage and leading UNC with 28 walks. In ACC play, she hit .327 and led the Tar Heels in slugging percentage (.727), home runs (6) and RBIs (18), earning Second Team All-ACC honors. Before UNC, her Marshall/Gardner-Webb résumé showed major production: after those stops she had appeared in 132 college games with 130 starts, a .373 average, 139 hits, 30 doubles, 25 home runs, 95 RBIs, 64 walks and 28 stolen bases. McMillan arrives as one of the most dangerous power bats in recent college softball. She broke Virginia Tech single-season records for home runs and slugging percentage and became one of the rare NCAA players to reach the 30-home-run mark in a single season. She was the 2025 ACC Player of the Year and a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 10 finalist. McMillan began her career at Radford, where she hit .365 with 14 home runs as a freshman and was an NFCA Top-25 Freshman of the Year finalist. Sierra Fretz is a standout collegiate softball player and Chemical Biology major who has earned recognition for both her athletic and academic achievements. In 2025 at Saint Joseph’s University, she was named First Team All-Atlantic 10, CSC Academic All-District, and an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete after starting all 54 games and batting .282 with 10 doubles, 10 home runs, and 33 RBIs. She ranked among the A-10 leaders in slugging percentage (.563), OPS (.957), home runs, and hit-by-pitches, becoming the first Hawk since 2023 to record double-digit home runs in a season. Prior to Saint Joseph’s, Fretz starred at UAlbany, earning America East Second Team All-Conference honors in both 2022 and 2023, as well as America East All-Rookie recognition. Across her career, she has consistently combined offensive production, defensive reliability, and academic excellence.

Kylie Aldridge is a talented softball player for Virginia Tech Athletics who has developed into one of the Hokies’ most productive hitters while excelling behind the plate and as a designated player. In 2025, she posted a career-best .368 batting average, along with career highs in hits (46), doubles (9), home runs (7), RBIs (30), and slugging percentage (.624). She delivered key performances throughout the season, including clutch hits against nationally ranked opponents and a standout NCAA Regional showing in which she hit .538 with two home runs and three RBIs over four games. Since joining Virginia Tech in 2023, Aldridge has appeared in more than 130 games, contributing consistent power at the plate, strong defensive play at catcher, and timely production in postseason competition. Her growth each season has established her as an important offensive and defensive leader for the Hokies.

coaching Staff

Elizabeth Economon

Economon brings a proven offensive-development background to Kansas City. At Wichita State, she spent nine seasons on staff as hitting coach and associate head coach, helping build one of the most productive offenses in the country. She was previously head coach at Pittsburg State, where she went 204-131 over five seasons, coached four All-Americans and developed 37 All-MIAA players. A Truman State Hall of Fame inductee, Economon has experience as a player, head coach, associate head coach and hitting specialist. Broadcast note: her coaching identity is tied directly to offense, power production and hitter development.

Assistant Coach
Hailey Hudson

Hudson brings recent high-level playing experience and a pitcher’s perspective to the Diamonds staff. At Grand Canyon, she was a key arm in 2023 and 2024, going 26-9 over two seasons with a 2.69 ERA, 65 appearances, 37 starts, 216.1 innings, 161 strikeouts, 10 complete games, eight shutouts and two saves. In 2024, she led the GCU pitching staff and finished 15-6 with a 2.75 ERA and 110 strikeouts. She began her college career at Houston, where her freshman debut included the program’s 20th no-hitter and American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors. Broadcast note: Hudson can connect with players as someone who competed recently at the Division I level and now transitions into professional coaching.

Assistant Coach
Kat Frakes

Frakes joins Kansas City after building a strong reputation as a young pitching coach. Grand Canyon hired her as pitching coach after successful stints at Nicholls State and Drury. At Nicholls State in 2023 and 2024, her teams combined to go 60-50, finished third in the Southland Conference both seasons and developed pitcher Audrey McNeil, who earned three Southland Pitcher of the Week awards and posted a 2.07 ERA with 12 complete games in 32 appearances. As a player, Frakes was also a former all-conference athlete. Broadcast note: Frakes is a development-focused pitching coach with recent success improving college staffs.

Assistant Coach
Mickey Dean

Dean is one of the most respected softball names connected to the Diamonds front office. Before Kansas City, he was a head coach at James Madison and Auburn. At James Madison, he went 237-56 over five seasons, an .809 winning percentage, produced five 40-win seasons, reached NCAA postseason play each year and led a program that broke more than 100 records. His background also includes success at Radford and years of high-level recruiting, pitching development and program building. Broadcast note: Dean gives Kansas City a veteran softball architect with Power Five and national postseason experience.

General Manager
Thomas Macera

Macera brings one of the strongest winning backgrounds in softball to the Diamonds. At Valdosta State, he became the winningest coach in program history and was described by the school as the winningest active coach in NCAA Division II softball. In 2024, he reached 1,000 career wins, with Valdosta State noting he was the fastest coach in NCAA softball history to reach that milestone. His résumé includes a national championship, extensive postseason experience and professional coaching experience. Broadcast note: Macera gives the Diamonds a championship-level leader with a long track record of winning.
